It turns out that living as a quadriplegic is quite expensive.
Although Medicare/Medicaid pays for all my home health care and some of the equipment that is necessary and most of my medical expenses, Medicaid does not cover private rehabilitation therapy, or anything else beyond rent, food and utilities. My limited social security disability of $1300 per month does not provide enough financial resources for me to support myself. Unfortunately, I must continue to use fundraising to supplement my income to pay for my daily expenses. For example, I must currently pay $50 a night, out of pocket, for a support person to spend the night at our house, periodically turning my body from side to side in bed to prevent skin breakdown. Volunteering Ways you can volunteer to help me include cooking and/or cleaning, overnight stays, and helping with things I can't now do for myself. If you want to volunteer, please see our Lotsa Helping Hands site, which we use to coordinate our local care network of friends and family. About PayPal
