Please help me establish financial independence
Dearest Community,
My name is Michael Mathieu, and I live with my beloved partner Beth in Boulder, Colorado. On August 27, 2012, I crashed on my mountain bike and severely damaged my neck, severing the spinal cord. I now have quadriplegia and am bound to a power wheelchair with limited arm function that allows me to get around some, feed myself and use my phone and iPad. Because my needs are so high I have almost constant caregivers in my home. I have very little time in the house by myself. I even have a caregiver in the adjacent bedroom at night because it is not unusual for me to wake up 3-4 times in the middle the night with low blood pressure or discomfort that needs attention. Before my injury, I had a very successful bodywork healing practice for 20 years helping thousands of people find higher levels of performance and more comfort in their bodies. I had offices in both Fort Collins and Boulder, Colorado. The spinal cord injury combined with lifelong health issues (which have gotten worse since my accident) have made my life quite arduous at best. I have had many ups and downs over the past six years, and there have been many times when I actively prayed to spirit to end this life. However, whenever I have done that, it seems that I get a sign to keep moving forward. Recently, some things have shifted that have me more committed than ever to turn things around, heal my body and live my life to the fullest, despite my physical limitations! Currently, my savings are falling short and Social Security Disability benefits of $1300 per month have never provided enough to cover my day-to-day expenses, not to mention my medical expenses. I have been extremely blessed with the generosity of my community to help support me financially these past six years. Since my injury, through a lot of trial and error, and much adaptation and improvisation, I discovered that I still am able to do my work and get excellent results! This was a difficult process at first, but in time I started seeing better and better results with clients. Health issues have kept me from actively building my practice until now. I am ready to create a new, highly successful healing practice similar to what I had before my injury. ********************************************************************* My goal is to create financial independence for myself – something I thought would be impossible to achieve due to my physical limitations. But now, I understand that I am far more than my physical body. ********************************************************************* With this in mind, I’m reaching out to my community and beyond to help me bridge the gap with my finances as I work to rebuild my practice and become financially independent. This fund-raising campaign has four important aspects:
The bodywork healing I provide to clients is helpful for most physical performance issues, structural dysfunction, and structural pain issues. With the unique and advanced set of skills that I have to offer, I am often able to help people recover from symptoms that other practitioners have not been able to resolve. The issues that respond most beneficially to my work are the following: symptoms from physical trauma/accidents/whiplash, pain and dysfunction that arises after surgery, physical performance limitations and a variety of issues with newborns, infants, and post-delivery moms. I am also often able to help with issues many people would not think bodywork could help, for example, cognitive issues after head trauma or digestive issues that may have shown up after abdominal surgery, and many others. A significant new addition to my work is that I can still get excellent results working on people long-distance. I know, to many people this may seem weird or unbelievable, and initially, I was quite dubious myself. But after experimenting with it for several years, I am finding that my results are still excellent! I typically work on people over the internet so that I can visually evaluate them and be in communication with them while I am working. This is so very exciting for me because now I can work on anyone anywhere! For more information on the scope of my work, please visit my website: http://www.michaelmathieu.com I have also begun blogging on this site on topics related to my body work and various health related topics. In all my years as a healer and my own personal quest for health I have gathered a great deal of important and useful information that I am beginning to share, with a lot more to come. Stay tuned! I am so very passionate about the work I have done for over 25 years now! Your support in helping me get back out there is exciting to me because it helps open the door for me to help others in need! And that gives meaning and purpose to my life which I had lost for a very long time following my accident. That being said, it is with great humility and faith that I ask for financial and practice-building assistance. How You Can Help Me There are four primary ways in which you can help me attain my goal of financial independence: A. If you would like to assist me financially, you have three choices:
B. Purchase a session or several sessions with me. C. Refer a new client to me. D. Share a link to my fundraising campaign and/or the link to my bodywork website with others to help me get my work out to a broader community. E. Sign up for my updates on this page on the right hand column above. As a way of saying thank you, I would like to offer the following:
